Press Release: METTLER TOLEDO White Paper Reveals Calibration as the Secret

Testing according to customer specifications requires a good understanding of underlying process tolerances. If these tolerances are not well-understood, test-result quality decreases. Rework can cause the unnecessary waste of unique sample material. A lab’s reputation may be at stake.

Calibration can help combat these issues in day-to-day lab processing. Periodic calibration helps to ensure:

  • Quality. A calibration that takes the specific process into account, as provided by METTLER TOLEDO’s Accuracy Calibration Certificate (ACC) in combination with the Good Weighing PracticeTM (GWP®) Annex, can ensure airtight measurement quality. Routine balance testing established by such a review can also preempt declining accuracy, allowing appropriate action to be taken to minimize drift and ensure quality between calibrations.

  • Compliance. The  ACC process is based on the globally recognized EURAMET cg-18 calibration guideline. Its modular approach is designed to fit your testing lab’s specific needs, and it is also available as a locally-accredited (ISO17025-compliant) version.

Regardless of calibration type, METTLER TOLEDO’s white paper “Calibration: What Is It?” shows how important it is to accept only calibration results that disclose measurement uncertainty, which quantitatively indicates measurement quality. Without it, balance calibration is incomplete and inconclusive.
