K-Gold Plus PNPP Substrate

LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 24, 2019 — Neogen announced today the launch of K-Gold® Plus, a new PNPP (p-nitrophenyl phosphate) substrate that combines the ease of use of its previous PNPP substrate with an improved signal-to-background performance.

Similar to the original formulation, Neogen’s new K-Gold Plus is a one-bottle, ready-to-use solution that offers long-term stability and non-hazardous labeling. K-Gold Plus also offers improved performance (a 30-40% enhanced rate) and an improvement of 60% in its signal-to-background ratio compared to the original K-Gold substrate.

“We are excited to offer a new and improved K-Gold Plus substrate for assay manufacturers who develop alkaline phosphatase-based test kits,” said Neogen’s Emilie Stanley. “K-Gold Plus is a one-bottle, ready-to-use PNPP substrate formula that allows assay manufacturers to provide a consistent product to their end users. Traditional tablet-based PNPP substrates require mixing and preparing reagents prior to use — which increases the possibility of errors and unpredictability for end users. We also prioritized the development of a formula that was non-hazardous and didn’t require special hazardous shipping labels.”

Key features of K-Gold Plus:

  • Improved performance (30-40% enhanced rate) and signal-to-background (60% improved S:B ratio) compared to original K-Gold formula
  • Easy-to-use, one-bottle formula
  • 24-month shelf life when stored at 2-8°C
  • Contains no hazardous components and requires no hazardous labeling
  • Manufactured following a quality management system compliant to ISO 9001

Neogen’s ISO 9001 certified quality management system ensures that we use high-quality development and manufacturing processes. Neogen consistently provides large diagnostic kit manufacturers high performance substrates following the ISO quality standard.

Neogen can package substrates and reagents in custom bottle sizes and volume fills to meet customer-specific packaging requirements. The company offers fill volumes ranging from 6 mL to 20 liters, with customized labeling options to meet customer-specific requirements.

Neogen offers an expanding line of substrates and reagents to meet its customers’ immunoassay needs. Substrates are also available for use with horseradish peroxidase and alkaline phosphatase-based microwell and membrane assays. Neogen’s substrates offer excellent sensitivity, stability and lot-to-lot consistency making them ideal for inclusion in commercial immunoassay test kits or for individual in-house assay projects. Neogen’s immunoassay reagents also include a stop solution and buffers.
