Greiner Bio-One invests 9.3 million euros in expansion at Kremsmünster

Kremsmünster, July 1, 2016: “We need to expand at the Kremsmünster location because we’ve run out of space. Over the past years we have invested strongly in expanding our production sites both at home and abroad. By increasing office space we can improve cooperation between our administrative sectors,” explains Rainer Perneker, CEO of Greiner Bio-One International GmbH, during the groundbreaking ceremony.

18-month project

The project duration, from initial tendering and awarding contracts through to moving in, is scheduled for just 18 months. After 15 months of construction, the building itself will be ready for occupancy in August 2017. The state-of-the-art office space will house a workforce of up to 185 employees. “The benefit is that it will allow departments currently spread all over the site, or even at other locations, to come together and be organized within a single building. This will make marked improvements to workflows,” says Rainer Perneker.

Successful development

Since its founding Greiner Bio-One has followed a consistent path of growth. Greiner Bio-One is a specialist in plastic safety products used in medical technologies, and is the most internationally-active division in the Greiner Group. It generates more than 50 percent of its revenue outside Europe. “The division’s performance is pleasing across all areas. Bringing together key activities in a single building will simplify workflows and further enhance the division’s potential,” explains Axel Kühner, CEO of Greiner Holding AG. During the business year 2015 Greiner Bio-One generated revenue of 427 million euros, with 1,890 employees across 23 locations around the world.

Professionals ensure rapid completion

The company is turning to tried-and-tested partners when it comes to extending the Greiner Bio-One headquarters. The contract to plan the building was awarded to architects Schmid+Leitner from Steyr who were previously commissioned to plan the Greiner headquarters in Kremsmünster. Strabag AG has been contracted for the overall construction planning, with the Energie Technik Ing. Mario Malli Planungs GmbH responsible for planning the energy and building services technology.
