GE Healthcare showcases innovations designed to build cardiology care of the future at TCT2022

BOSTON – September 16, 2022: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to grow, with CVDs being the leading cause of death globally[1]. Nearly 18 million people died from CVDs in 2019, representing 32 percent of all global deaths and of these deaths, 85 percent were due to heart attack and stroke.[2] As a result, cardiology procedures are shifting rapidly – requiring a multi-disciplinary approach to optimize workflow, deliver better outcomes and offer patients the best treatment options.

From early detection and diagnosis, to planning, intervention and monitoring GE Healthcare’s suite of integrated cardiology solutions leverage data and AI to drive care pathway optimization intended to help deliver better patient outcomes in cardiology care.

“GE Healthcare’s cardiology solutions are devoted to solving for today’s main challenges – reducing time from diagnostics to therapy, streamlining data processing to support clinical decision-making, enabling rapid adoption of transcatheter therapies, and supporting holistic patient care from any location,” said Eigil Samset, PhD, Chief Technology Scientist, GE Healthcare’s Cardiology Solutions.

This year at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conference (TCT), GE Healthcare will showcase technology and innovation for use during the stages of planning and intervention, a critical step in the cardiology care pathway:

  • Allia Platform with MyIQ: The award-winning Allia Platform represents the culmination of a multi-year collaboration with interventional cardiologists and vascular surgeons as well as other interventional specialists to design a trusted assistant for image guided therapies – featuring a new robotic gantry with smaller footprint than previous versions and other features to enhance user experience and improve workflow integration and efficiency. With just one click, users can access all their essential functions thanks to their own personalized workplace that meets the operator’s specific needs and preferences.
    • Leveraging the Edison platform, Allia also harnesses the power of AI with AutoRight – the industry’s first AI-based interventional image chain[3] trained on more than 6,000 datasets, with automatic adjustment of up to 7 parameters[4] in real time to help optimize image quality and dose.
    • The Allia Platform also brings ASSIST solutions to support cardiovascular care, including PCI ASSIST[5] which can help improve image quality and simplifies complex coronary interventions such as accuracy of stent placement; and Valve ASSIST[6]  which can simplify complex structural heart procedures by helping determine valve dimensions as well as the access route selection. Now with the new myIQ feature, operators have 1-click access to four predefined image looks optimized for cardiology that can be chosen at table side without increasing dose.
  • The New Vivid Ultra Edition 2022 portfolio: Building on a history of advancements in cardiac patient care, GE Healthcare’s Vivid portfolio is designed to provide clinicians with uncompromised image quality, advanced visualization capabilities and easy measurements—while helping reduce tedious tasks and inter-observer variability. Key innovations in our latest offering include:
    • 4D ICE NUVISIONTMThe need for general anesthesia limits procedure volumes, impacting Cath Lab efficiency and patient scheduling. The adjunctive use of 4D-ICE can potentially overcome current imaging challenges in transcatheter annular devices by optimizing device implantation potentially under conscious sedation, while improving procedural outcomes and facilitating faster clinical adoption. 4D ICE NUVISION Ultrasound catheter by Biosense Webster, Inc. provide a 90×90-degree field of view and seamless visualization and navigation thanks to the 360-degree catheter tip rotation.
    • CT Fusion Live: The overlay of CT and 4D transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) allows real-time guidance of catheter position as planned on the CT while assessing potential obstructions during device deployment. CT Fusion Live may help to ease the navigation within both left and right sides of the heart while ensuring that the correct co-axiality of the delivery catheter is maintained potentially improving procedure time.
    • Dual Crop: Provides a simultaneous view from the bottom and top of the cropped 4D dataset. It can be used live and on recalled images.
    • 9VT-D Probe: The first 4D TEE probe designed for a broad range of pediatric and interventional procedures and for patients as small as 5kg. The probe allows for 2D, 4D, Color and Doppler modes; cardiac, pediatric and coronary applications; and scan depths down to 18cm.

  • Centricity Cardio Enterprise (CCE): Centricity Cardio Enterprise unifies the cardiovascular care pathway by consolidating departmental silos, providing a single point of access to waveforms, structured data, images, and advanced post processing tools. CCE will offer full product demos highlighting the ability to integrate with imaging modalities, like Vivid, Allia and the Altix hemodynamics system, revealing how CCE can help streamline cath lab workflows.
  • Computed Tomography: Following the publication of the American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) new guidelines to help improve patient outcomes, clinicians are increasing exploring the use of coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) for certain patient cases. GE Healthcare is proud to offer several solutions to assist clinicians in their use of this technology, helping support their goals for a less invasive and more comfortable patient experience.
