25 May 2018 – The Board of Spectris plc (SXS: LSE), the productivity-enhancing instrumentation and controls company, announces that it has been informed by John O’Higgins of his intention to retire from the Board in the course of the next twelve months.

John will remain as Chief Executive until a replacement is in place and a formal process to recruit his successor, considering both internal and external candidates, will commence shortly.

Mark Williamson, Chairman, said: “John has had a very successful 12 years as Chief Executive of Spectris and on behalf of the Board I would like to thank him for his substantial contribution during his tenure. The Group has grown significantly in that time and he will be leaving a stronger company with a clear strategy already underway for the transformation into a leading supplier of solutions for our customers. The Board appreciates the significant value John has added to Spectris.”

John O’Higgins, Chief Executive, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of Spectris’ success story and am pleased that the Group is well placed to deliver on its growth strategy. I will leave behind a team of highly experienced people to continue to take Spectris forward and realise its strategic ambitions.”

Mr. O’Higgins’ departure terms will be consistent with Spectris’ approved Directors Remuneration Policy. Details of any payments to be made to Mr. O’Higgins will be posted on the Company’s website, in due course, in accordance with section 430(2B) Companies Act 2006.

Mr. O’Higgins will continue to receive his normal remuneration whilst he remains an employee of Spectris.
