BioTek is pleased to congratulate its President and CEO, Briar Alpert, for receiving the 2018 Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Vermont (UVM) Alumni Association. The award recognizes alumni demonstrating outstanding commitment to Vermont, the University, and the local community.
“Briar is enthusiastically committed to supporting success throughout Vermont, and I congratulate him on this award from UVM,” noted U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont in recognition of the achievement. “I’ve long been impressed by his commitment to keep BioTek in Vermont and his ability to tap Vermont’s highly educated workforce to grow the company into one of the state’s leading high-tech businesses. We’re proud of his achievements and the positive impact he’s made on the community.”
Under Mr. Alpert’s leadership, BioTek remains committed to retaining product development and manufacturing in Vermont, counting many UVM graduates among its over 500 employees. The company has also provided key donations to UVM to support educational and research efforts, and encourages employees to volunteer within the community.
Beyond various community volunteer activities, Mr. Alpert is a member of the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) and the Vermont Academy of Science and Engineering (VASE), and also serves on the UVM Board of Trustees.
Mr. Alpert has strong connections to Vermont and UVM, including undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University. His father and BioTek’s founder, Dr. Norman Alpert, was Chairman of the Physiology Department at the UVM College of Medicine.
