Neogen launches high sensitivity Veratox® HS for Total Aflatoxin featuring aqueous extraction

LANSING, Mich., Feb. 23, 2017 — Neogen has developed a highly sensitive version of its quantitative microwell test for total aflatoxin that uses a water-based solution for extraction. The new test complements Neogen’s existing aflatoxin test, and will help grain producers and processors meet the requirements for lower levels of aflatoxin in certain global markets.

Neogen’s new Veratox® HS (High Sensitivity) for Total Aflatoxin can deliver precise results ranging from 1 to 10 parts per billion (ppb) of aflatoxin. The test detects the four principle types of aflatoxin, B1, B2, G1 and G2, with superior cross-reactivity when compared to other available aflatoxin tests. Together with Neogen’s Veratox for Total Aflatoxin, testers can use the same aqueous extraction to test samples for 1 to 300 ppb of aflatoxin.

Neogen also offers a water-based aflatoxin test in a simple test strip format, Reveal® Q+ MAX for Aflatoxin. The Reveal Q+ MAX test strips are read in a lateral flow test reader to deliver precise results ranging from 2 to 300 ppb of aflatoxin after only six minutes.
