Bruker Introduces new Calibrations for EOS handheld LIBS Elemental Analyzer

KENNEWICK, Washington – April 19, 2017 – Bruker introduces a new calibration package for the EOS 500 handheld Laser Induced Breakdown Spectrometer (HH-LIBS). In response to customer input, the EOS 500 now has the option to include Iron, Nickel, Copper and Cobalt alloy calibrations, in addition to the existing light metal calibrations (e.g. Aluminum, Titanium and Magnesium base alloys).

The EOS 500 is a metals analyzer which can provide rapid grade ID, as well as the chemistry, of the sample under test. This is an excellent choice for either scrap sorting or Positive Material Identification (PMI) measurements; especially for light metals where the measurement is approximately 10x faster than handheld XRF. The EOS 500’s rugged design ensures that it will withstand field operation in nearly all environments, including humid and dusty conditions. In addition, the EOS 500 has a unique “Air-Flow Optics Shield”, which creates a continuous air shield in front of the optics in order to prevent dust build-up and to allow the EOS 500 to operate in the most demanding environments. And for those that just require analysis of light metals, the EOS 500 is still available with calibrations limited to Aluminum, Titanium and Magnesium base alloys.

Jiyan Gu, Product Manager Metals for Bruker’s Handheld-Mobile-Portable Products, commented: “The new calibration package is a great addition to the EOS 500. The extended alloy analysis range makes the EOS 500 an excellent choice for scrap sorters and fabricators who need a fast and simple tool to test wide range of different alloys.”
